Hi, due to me miss-reading your set up, I used '-4' for damping instead of 4. I actually prefer that. Can you explain in short laymen terms what this means? I struggle understanding some of these set ups and want to learn. As said the other day, I use all your set ups so this isn't me basing them. Thanks in advance.
Hi Sid,the game explains those settings, it's next to the values, on the right. In your example you seem to prefer the softer damping, which may make it easier for you to handle. There are a lot of examples in which different settings can make the driving safer, more stable, easier with getting through the corners...but being slower than with other settings. It's all a question of the compromises that work best for you. And that depends on factors like playing with wheel or controller (at least in my opinion), your driving skills and experiences and what you are looking for. It may be a safe and stable driving experience, or a stage time somewhere in the middle ...or a time in the top 10% of the leaderboards. By now, with some experience in driving and creating setups, i prefer the last option. That leads to a preference in setups that allow me to be among the faster ones, and are still stable enough for me to handle- but surely not for everyone. Usually those setups require some advanced driving technics like weight transfer (a soft, short tip on the brake before a corner,to transfer the weight of your car to the front and give you more grip then, which allows you to turn the differential settings higher to get more grip and speed when the corners are passed), clutch kicking, handbrake use for the sharpest corners for example. Since there are a lot of factors that have an influence, i can only encourage you to do what works best for you. Play around with the values and test out how they change the driving, but i recommend only testing one change at once,to understand what it does. Besides the setups, skills and experience there is also the question of the chosen settings of your used wheel or controller, which may have a huge influence on your results with a setup. My personal goal is of course the fastest possible time after all :-) Sorry for not answering in a short way- it's just a very complex topic, those setup thing.
